Chairman of GCL-Poly Met with the Governor of Washington State, USA

23 September 2010, Executive Director, Chairman and CEO of GCL-Poly Energy Holdings Limited (“GCL-Poly” or the “Company”, stock code: 3800.HK, together with its subsidiaries, the “Group”), Mr. ZHU Gong Shan, met with the Governor of Washington State, USA, Ms. Christine O. Gregoire, on 17 September 2010 in Shanghai.


Ms. Gregoire expressed her gratitude to GCL-Poly for setting up an R&D center in Richland, Washington, USA. The voters of Washington State are focused on the development of renewable energies and the state of Washington is the 4th largest state in the USA in terms of wind power generation capacity. The State of Washington encourages the adoption of solar energy and many key labs and R&D facilities in the region have already launched various R&D programs to develop key solar technologies as well as other clean energy related technologies such as smart grid technologies. The two major state research universities, University of Washington and Washington State University, are working in conjunction with one of the largest US research laboratories, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), to develop such green energy technologies. The Governor stated in the meeting that the State of Washington can provide more support and assistance to GCL-Poly regarding its R&D efforts in the USA as well as its development of the solar farm business. The PNNL and Washington State University facilities are located near the GCL R&D Center in Richland.


Mr. ZHU Gong Shan expressed his gratitude to the Governor for travelling all the way to Shanghai to meet with GCL-Poly and promised to make a trip to the USA very soon. GCL-Poly is focused on the development of solar farms in the USA and Mr. ZHU Gong Shan sees numerous opportunities for GCL-Poly to cooperate with the State of Washington in the future in this respect. GCL-Poly representatives attended the Washington State China Relations Council Reception and Banquet on 17 September and then participated in a Clean Technology Panel discussion on 18 September during Washington Day at Shanghai World Expo-U.S.A. Pavilion.
