On the morning of May 18, in the Xianlin Campus of Nanjing University, colored flags fluttered in the wind and the sound of singing echoed across the Campus, where the completion ceremony of the “Zhu Gongshan Building” and the signing ceremony of the cooperation framework agreement between GCL and Nanjing University were held as an important part of the celebrations of the 110th Anniversary of the Founding of the Nanjing University. The teaching building of the Earth Science and Engineering College in the Xianlin Campus was named “Zhu Gongshan Buiding” in honor of the unremitting support and contribution of Zhu Gongshan, Board Chairman of the GCL Group to the development of the education and S&T innovation of Nanjing University over the past years.

Chen Jun, President of Nanjing University and Vice President Xue Hailin, Zhu Gongshan, Board Chairman of GCL Group and the Honorary Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nanjing University, GCL Vice Presidents Li Jian and Zhang Jianhua and other leaders of the university and the Group attended the completion ceremony and the signing ceremony. Board Chairman Zhu Gongshan and President Chen Jun signed the cooperation framework agreement on behalf of the GCL Group and Nanjing University respectively.

Board Chairman Zhu Gongshan first extended his warm congratulations to the 110th Anniversary of the Founding of the Nanjing University and expressed his sincere gratitude to the support and assistance of the university over the past years. He said that it was the honor and responsibility of GCL Group to make its due contribution to the development of the education in the university. Standing at the forefront of the world in the development of new energies, GCL hoped that it could take advantage of such a good opportunity to carry out in-depth cooperation with Nanjing University in new energy research and development, high-end talents cultivation and the integration of production, study and research so as to open more space for development, share resources and complement with each other and develop together to create a win-win situation and compose the more brilliant chapters in the future.

President Chen Jun extended his heart-felt gratitude to the long-term care and support of the GCL Group to Nanjing University. President Chen said, “on occasion of the 110th Anniversary of the Founding of the Nanjing University, the signing between GCL and Nanjing University will set a typical example for the promotion of the in-depth cooperation between universities and enterprises for mutual complementation and benefits. The signing of the agreement indicates that the cooperation between Nanjing University and GCL Group has entered a new stage of development and will have a broader prospect in the future.

Towards the end of the ceremony, Board Chairman Zhu Gongshan accepted the model of “Zhu Gongshan Building” presented by President Chen Jun and cut the ribbon at the completion ceremony of the new building with the Guest of Honour and unveiled the inscriptional record of “Zhu Gongshan Building” together with President Chen Jun. In the company of President Chen Jun and other leaders, Board Chairman Zhu Gongshan also paid a visit to the historical archives of the Earth Science and Engineering College and wrote the inscription “may the college cultivate more talents and make more contributions to the construction of our country.”

The building laid the cornerstone on Dec. 17, 2009 and was established on May 18, 2012, lasting for one and a half year and now has been put into service. It is a building that integrates teaching, scientific research, experiment, book reading and achievements exhibition for the use of the Earth Science and Engineering College. Located near the central axis of the Xianlin Campus of Nanjing University and in close proximity to the library of the school, the building enjoys a very important position in location and covers a construction area of 23,000 square meters. It is of framed structure and includes one underground floor and five overground floors. The building and the greening landscape of the etiquette avenue in front of the building set off each other and echo with the motto of the Nanjing University, namely the sincerity with aspiration and perseverance with integrity.
