Sami Khoreibi, CEO of Enviromena Power Systems, a UAE‐based international solar photovoltaic (PV) integrator, highlighted the consistent cost of producing solar power in comparison to the volatile long‐term cost of hydrocarbons in ‘The Next Wave of Growth Markets’ panel discussion at the World Future Energy Summit on January 21st, 2015.

“Solar plants are no longer being built as flagship or environmental projects. Costs of production have fallen significantly over the past few years, and solar now makes sense from an economic point of view,” commented Sami at the panel, moderated by Michael Liebreich, Bloomberg New Energy Finance.

“Added to this, volatility in the price of crude oil has demonstrated to governments that solar is a far more consistent, dependable alternative to hydrocarbons.”

Solar Pioneer 2015 award for Enviromena’s Executive Director – Projects

Sander Trestain, Enviromena’s Executive Director – Projects, was awarded the ‘Solar Pioneer 2015’ award by the Middle East Solar Industry Association (MESIA) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), for demonstrating innovation, long‐term vision, leadership, and impact in leading the growth of solar across the MENA region.

“I am very pleased to receive this award and for Enviromena to be recognized as a leading industry player by MESIA once again. This is an extremely exciting time to be working in solar as current growth prospects are huge,” Trestain added.

“Growing regional energy demand and solar’s increasingly competitive economics against conventional sources of energy production are catalyzing the nprecedented construction of large‐scale solar power plants across the region.”
